As extremely proud sponsors we extend our warmest congratulations on newly professional boxer, Jordan Gill, on his victorious debut win last weekend. (Check out the dressing room footage of the Jordan Fitness "Team Gill" T-shirts)

As reported in the CambsTimes this week, Jordan Gill is poised to become a national boxing phenomenon:

Gill cruised to a 40-36 points win over Nuneaton journeyman Kristian Laight in Sheffield - just six days after he turned 18.

The debutant won every round of his bout, which was the first on the undercard for Kell Brook’s epic points win over Carson Jones.

Gill said: “I wasn’t that nervous. I got in there and I just wanted to take my time and not get caught because of a stupid mistake.

“I caught him with a big shot in the first round and then after that he didn’t want to know. I got a right hand straight through his guard and I saw his eyes go funny. I probably got caught with two shots in the whole fight. I think I could have done a bit more but this guy had a lot of experience and he used it. He was trying to tie me up and I felt his strength a bit but I fought a clever fight.”

Amateur Boxing Association champion Gill showed no nerves against an opponent who was contesting his 138th professional bout.

With Sky Sports presenters filming links at ringside, Gill proceeded to dominate the third round.

The teenager was given a pat on the back by his legendary trainer Dominic Ingle before turning to face the cameras for his first photographs as a victorious professional boxer.

Gill said: “All the boys in the gym said to make sure you win - but the main thing is to enjoy it. You only get one pro debut and I enjoyed mine. I will never get those four rounds again. I just did what Dominic told me. He’s the genius! In between rounds he said: ‘this is easy for you isn’t it?’”

Proud father Paul said: “He boxed well but he’s got a long way to go. His opponent was a bit of a spoiler but Jordan did what he was told and I’m pleased.”

Gill looks set to contest his second professional bout on the undercard of Kid Galahad’s show in September. He is hoping to have between six and eight bouts in the next year.

But how will boxing's new hero reward himself for making a winning debut?

“I might get a Burger King,” he said, with a grin.
